Chinese Style Beef Broccoli And Rice

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/4 lbs top sirloin steaks, trimmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup quick cooking long grain rice
  • 1 lb broccoli, cut in 1 inch pieces

Recipe

  • 1 cut steak diagonally into thin slices.
  • 2 in a medium bowl, mix together sugar, soy sauce and cornstarch. add meat strips and toss to coat well. let stand 5-10 minutes.
  • 3 in skillet, heat oil over high heat. add meat mixture. cook, stirring over high heat, until meat loses its redness, 4-5 minutes. remove to a plate.
  • 4 add water, rice and broccoli to skillet and heat to boiling. reduce heat to medium low and simmer 5-6 minutes or until broccoli is tender.
  • 5 return meat to skillet and heat to boiling, stirring often.
