Chicken And Dumplings

Ingredients

- 1 broiler-fryer chicken
- 2 yellow onions (quartered)
- 4 -5 carrots
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
Recipe
- 1 wash chicken and remove giblets.
- 2 half fill large pot with water.
- 3 add whole.
- 4 salt and pepper the water.
- 5 bring to boil.
- 6 simmer for 45 minutes.
- 7 ladle out of water.
- 8 let it cool.
- 9 de-bone chicken.
- 10 drain water through cheese cloth.

- 15 re-add chicken, bring back to boil.
- 16 dumplings: mix dry ingredients, then add shortening and cut until it looks like meal. then stir in milk. then you are ready to drop them.
- 17 drop dumplings in water and cook uncovered for 10 minutes.
- 18 then cover and cook 10 minutes.
