Cornbread

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar, if you like sweet corn bread (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2 combine corn meal, flour and salt in bowl. mix well.
  • 3 combine egg, milk, and oil in small bowl. mix well.
  • 4 add milk mixture into flour and corn meal mixture until just blended. pour into 11" inch cast iron skillet.
  • 5 bake 20 to 25 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
